The contest will be held in the holy month of Ramadan (Begins in mid-April), according to the TV channel’s website.
Abbas Razavi, director of Al-Kawthar TV’s Islamic Teachings Department, said registration began on the third day of the lunar Hijri month of Sha’aban, marking the birth anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS).
Those willing to participate in the contest, named Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza, can visit the website of the TV channel, he added.
Razavi noted that registration will continue until Thursday, April 8.
According to the official, contenders are required to fill out a form and submit a recorded file of their recitation (maximum two minutes).
He said an experts committee will evaluate the recitations and select 96 best ones to compete in the main round.
A group of Quran experts from a number of Arab and Muslim countries will form the panel of judges of the competition.
Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza is the Muslim world’s biggest live Quran recitation competition aired by Al-Kawthar, an Arabic-language channel within the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s World Service.
